Nour — The Hopeful One

Nour was first identified in December 2009 – back then still a juvenile, marked by a few small spots on her belly that distinguish her to this day.

In July 2018 she became a mother for the first time: her daughter Narine grew into a strong, healthy young dolphin and went her own way in 2022. Since 2024, however, we have not sighted Narine again. As she carries no distinctive markings, she is considered missing for now, but we have not given up hope of finding her again.

It is for exactly such cases that we developed our "360-degree identification approach," capturing every dolphin from all angles and perspectives. Later this year, we plan to use it to search specifically for the missing calves, Narine among them.

In June 2024, Nour gave birth to her second calf, which is thriving so far – a little star in the making, still waiting for its name. In 2025, Nour was sighted three times. During the last observation, we could not clearly confirm her calf's presence; but as the footage was taken exclusively from the boat and not all of it was perfectly sharp, we assume it was simply overlooked.
